Farm Gates & Farmers' Markets
Discover the passion of the food producers around Beechworth and nearby Stanley. Home to orchardists, beekeepers, winemakers and farmers, you will not only eat well but be rewarded by the stunning beauty of rolling hills and lush farmland.
The drive to Stanley is truly one of the most beautiful in the region. Enjoy the twists and turns, and discover the farm gate produce along the way. Pick your own blueberries, raspberries, loganberries and blackberries in summer or take home a bag of crunchy apples, fresh pears and walnuts in the autumn and winter months. The changing seasons along this road are a kaleidoscope of colour.
For a longer drive, take the right fork when you get to the Stanley township and travel down the hill to Mudgegonga, Myrtleford and back into Beechworth on the Buckland Gap Road. This tour will take you just under an hour; longer if you stop along the way to explore.
A favourite activity of Beechworth locals is an afternoon jaunt to Beechworth Berries . In the warmer months, you can pick the sweetest of berries and pop them straight into your basket (or mouth!)
The Beechworth Farmers' Market is on the 1st Saturday of the month from 9.00am to 12 noon in the grounds of Christ Church, on the corner of Church and Ford Streets. You'll find super fresh local fruits and vegetables, breads, locally reared meats, cheeses, poultry, seedlings, flowers and herbs. A great way to meet the growers and get to know the surrounding area from paddock to plate.
